Pretty sure it was 'Scotland get battered'.

Yea, don’t get all that shit. I mean, it’s not like you hear “ ohhhh Michael Van Gerwen ….” from the Bobby Moore every home game ?

Re: PDC World Darts Championships
Last Thursday evening the “Tottenham get battered” song was being sung quite a lot. 👍

Some people taking a pub game far too seriously.

As said previously, they'd all be cleaning out toilets during the day and playing darts of a night were it not for the crowd at the Ally Pally. You think they'd trade off being richer than 95% of the country in favour of having a bit of quiet time whilst they're lining up double 5?

There was always the BDO if any of them wanted that. Funnily enough, none of them fancied it. That's why it went to the wall.

The whole pantomime thing is part and parcel of the darts, and has been for quite some time.

I found it quite entertaining hearing the crowd going "whooooa" in that leg where they missed all those doubles.

I dunno why Wright got all upset over it though. He's been the beneficiary quite a lot of the time with the crowd normally on his side.

Maybe it was because his song was being sung by all the Smith fans that wound him up?

I bow to greater knowledge but isn’t the ‘sport’ just a Punch and Judy show with a few knitting needles flying about?
Or is it just marketed that way?
Either way, a Scotcher turning up looking like a right cock is hardly likely to get off Scott free at crown bowls in Beaconsfield is he

Re: PDC World Darts Championships
You can sort of understand the crowd booing those players who act the pantomime villain, get fired up from it and lap it up. Price, Nicholson etc. That is all part of the 'show'.

For the final, I'm assuming it's just that most of the crowd wanted Smith to win, but it's possible to support one player without taking to abusing the other. Wright might be a bit of a clown with his hair and outfits and I know a few years ago he did a few shenanigans now and again, but he seems like a genuinely nice guy and he doesn't deserve that sort of treatment. He was clearly a bit upset about it afterwards. There has to be some respect toward both players.

When will people realise that football crowds, cricket crowds, darts crowds etc are not reflective of the sport but of society itself.

Alcohol, drugs, mob mentality and people think that they can do what they like and get aggressive if and when pulled up on their behaviour.

Never been to ‘the darts’ and never will
But how much of this malarkey was anti sporran?
Can’t knock that and if it was it ain’t new - I remember the Crafty Cockney taking Wilson apart in Glasgow taking dogs abuse decades ago
Whatever, this crowd participation thing has been encouraged by all parties

Re: PDC World Darts Championships
Crowds have gradually been ruining it for the past few years, this year was fucking dreadful. Will only get worse as well until there's a full on riot. Literally only a handful go for the actual darts these days.

Used to love going to the Tavern back in the day, that was proper.

Re: PDC World Darts Championships
I think the crowd have been a bit off this year.

Sheep shagging wanker or whatever it was Price got was a bit much, as is the constant booing and slagging of players.

First time it has made me think it is a bit shit crowd wise this year.

Test cricket crowds are going that way too, people have no class anymore.

Re: PDC World Darts Championships
I am biit of an old skool darts fan and was a regular at the Tavern. The crowd then was probably about 80 actual darts fans a say 500 wanting a day out. There wasn’t silence during play but no singing.

One year I was sat next tv studio and we couldn’t stand it do anything really We we’re surrounded by security. That was quite boring. Best seat was at the back next to bar and betting shop!

I Haven’t actually been to the new venue.

For many years I challenged the new atmosphere ; in part as I had grown up with the “very best of order days”.
I was told the crowd was good for the game and meant more people wanted to come and watch etc etc. I accepted it.

I actually enjoyed watching the lockdown version when the boring chanting was there.

It has become a bit like 20/20 cricket fans but has raised profile of the PDC and brought in huge sponsors and prize money.

Even though it has gone on for years (singing and booing) and actually promoted and celebrated by Sky I have found it strange that Sky have started to have a go at the crowd now. What has changed? Have sky had bit of a fall out with PDC and Hearn (although Hearn isn’t in charge now). Not sure why it’s seemingly a problem this year. If you allow this for years you can’t suddenly turn round and say you don’t like it.

I was wondering what's this got to do with West Ham? Then I saw PDC.

Re: PDC World Darts Championships
The 'classless' crowd at the Darts is why the fat cunts are so rich from playing the game these days.

Makes me laugh when the commentators have a go at the crowd. They'd be playing most of the tournaments in pubs were it not for all the pantomime that now comes with it, and all working other jobs at the same time. Including those commentators.

Good final. Wright found another gear there.

Feel really sorry for Smith. He looks gutted. The booing of Wright is just a load of shithousery though. No class from those doing that in the crowd.

I'm delighted that Smith beat Price. I can't stand Price. Smith looks exactly how a darts player should look as well.
